The Karakoram Mountain Guides Association (KMGA) is Pakistan's first national association for professional mountain guides, high-altitude workers, porters, and expedition staff. Founded in November 2025 in Skardu, KMGA works to professionalise, represent, and advocate for Pakistan's mountain workforce.
You can apply for membership through our membership page or by contacting us directly. Professional Membership is open to mountain guides, high-altitude workers, and expedition staff. Supporter Membership is open to organisations and individuals who wish to support KMGA's mission.
Yes. KMGA delivers training programs covering technical mountaineering skills, wilderness first aid, guide certification preparation, and leadership. Programs are designed for working mountain professionals and are conducted in Urdu, Balti, Shina, and English as needed.
KMGA is headquartered in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, the gateway to Pakistan's high mountain regions including the Karakoram, K2, and the Baltoro Glacier corridor.
