About Us

Karakoram Mountain Guides Association

The Karakoram Mountain Guides Association (KMGA) is a national association representing Pakistan's mountain guides, climbers, and high-altitude workers. KMGA was established to professionalize the guiding profession in Pakistan and create a structured system for training, safety, and representation.

The association works to improve standards, support mountain communities, and strengthen Pakistan's role in the global mountaineering industry. Through partnerships with international guiding organizations, collaboration with government institutions, and engagement with local communities, KMGA is building a stronger and safer future for Pakistan's mountain guides.

An Association by Mountain Guides, for Mountain Guides

KMGA unites professional mountain guides, high-altitude workers, porters, cooks, and expedition staff from every region of Pakistan's great mountain corridors — the Karakoram, Hindu Kush, and Himalaya

Through collective representation, KMGA advocates for training standards, safety protocols, insurance coverage, fair remuneration, and economic opportunities for the thousands of men and women who work in Pakistan's mountains. Membership is open to all professional mountain workers — from licensed guides to high-altitude porters.

From basic rock and ice skills to advanced guide certification, our programs are designed to take Pakistan's mountain professionals to the world stage.
